Collaborative Momentum: The 2023 State of the Digital Public Goods Ecosystem Report

For the Digital Public Goods Alliance, this year has been a journey of growth, adaptation, alignment, and maturity. The 2023 State of the Digital Public Goods Ecosystem report highlights this journey, and the collective actions that over 40 DPGA members and digital public goods undertook this past year to help uplift the prominence, understanding, and advancements of digital public goods globally.

Throughout 2023, digital public goods gained ground, finding a prominent place in global dialogues, including the 78th UN General Assembly and India’s G20 Presidency. This year’s State of the DPG Ecosystem report underscores their pivotal role in establishing safe, inclusive, and interoperable digital public infrastructure, while navigating the complexities of digital sovereignty. DPGs also play a role in efforts to address urgent global challenges including climate change and information pollution, while being a force for good for emerging tech, like AI.

As we look ahead to 2024, the DPGA remains resolute in advocating for the adoption of digital public goods, and emphasizing open-source technologies in digitalisation efforts. The report not only reflects on the past year’s journey, but also connects to the DPGA Roadmap, guiding future endeavors towards effective, impactful, and sustainable implementation of digital public goods.
