The Government of Malawi Joins the Digital Public Goods Alliance
The Digital Public Goods Alliance is excited to announce that the Government of Malawi has joined as a member, reinforcing their dedication to digital cooperation and the use of digital public goods for the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals. As part of its membership to the DPGA, the Government of Malawi will undertake several relevant activities including:
- Adopting Aid Management Platform (AMP), a DPG that can be used to manage development aid effectiveness
- Leveraging DPGs to improve data use in Malawi by upgrading the national health information software and training key staff on its use
- Advocating for open-source software in the health and social sector
- Advocating for DPGs for digital public infrastructure (DPI). This includes participation in the country-led advocacy campaign 50-in-5, which aims to bring together 50 countries to design, launch, and scale at least one component of their digital public infrastructure in a safe, inclusive, and interoperable manner by 2028.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in our shared mission to strengthen digital cooperation for a better future. The DPGA looks forward to collaborating with the Government of Malawi to help leverage DPGs to improve it’s digital public infrastructure and service delivery in order to drive positive outcomes.
