The Government of Singapore Joins the Digital Public Goods Alliance

The Digital Public Goods Alliance is thrilled to announce the Government of Singapore as our newest member! This partnership reinforces Singapore’s dedication to creating scalable, impactful digital public goods.

“Undergirding Singapore’s participation in the Alliance is our firm belief that tech must be for the public good for Singapore and the world. Many of Singapore’s digital government products today are already open source, but through our participation in the established platform of the DGPA, we hope to encourage further adoption of our open-source products that have benefitted the Singapore society and which we are very proud of. The Alliance also offers Singapore a valuable opportunity to learn from global peers and experts, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation, especially within the public service so that we can all serve our peoples better” – Mrs. Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-charge of Smart Nation and Cybersecurity

Leveraging their strong leadership and robust experience with open source, as a member of the DPGA, they aim to:

• Prioritise the open sourcing of high-impact Singaporean government products as digital public goods, making them accessible and discoverable worldwide for government institutions and other relevant organisations. This work will help address critical needs in areas they have been working on such as data collection (FormSG), information accessibility (Isomer, GoGovSG), and trustworthy communication (Isomer, Postman).
• Propagate Singapore’s DPGs and open-sourced products to other countries to meet their government technology needs. This work will build off their success working with other countries such as Sri Lanka and Cambodia with the digital public good FormSG.
• Help other countries accelerate their digital transformation through sharing and training on best practices around digital public infrastructure, which is also part of their participation in 50-in-5. This includes exploring how countries can develop and build capacity for digital public goods and how to create minimalist, reusable products.

This membership is a significant step towards enhancing digital cooperation across borders and promoting sustainable development through technology. The DPGA looks forward to working with the team at Open Government Products to leverage their vast experience on open source to share knowledge and best practices with the DPG ecosystem.
