Welcoming UNDP & BMZ to the Digital Public Goods Alliance Board
We are pleased to announce that the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are joining the Digital Public Goods Alliance as new members, and joining an evolved DPGA board from January 2022.
Both BMZ and UNDP are committed to advancing a shared vision for strengthening the digital public goods ecosystem and working collaboratively to advance digital public goods as part of the DPGA. As members, their efforts will be publicly visible on the DPGA Roadmap, a coordination, alignment, engagement and communication tool which showcases the work of each member.
BMZ
BMZ supports the DPGA’s mission and strategic objectives by providing country-level technical support for health-related DPGs, participating in the Digital Health Center of Excellence (DICE), driving coordination and alignment of work related to building digital administrations within the GovStack Community of Practice, direct funding and management of DPGs, and much more. Their leadership in the DPG ecosystem is exemplified by innovations like #SmartDevelopmentFund which called for innovative digital solutions to tackle the challenges caused by the coronavirus outbreak in low- and middle-income countries. Nine winning projects were selected under the program and are currently scaling their innovations around the world. Work like this plays a critical role in helping to achieve the DPGA’s mission and advancing the DPG ecosystem overall.

UNDP
UNDP leads inclusive digital transformation by contributing to the DPGA’s mission and strategic objectives. Building on wide country presence and experience in developing and implementing open source solutions for impact, UNDP will identify transformative DPGs from its network and increase their visibility, discoverability and scale. UNDP will also provide thought leadership on accelerating inclusive DPGs and empower its global network of staff across 170 countries and territories to catalyze deployment of DPGs.
UNDP’s leadership will advance the DPG ecosystem and play a critical role in achieving the Secretary General’s vision for Digital Cooperation. Further information on UNDP’s contributions to the DPGA can be found in the Roadmap.
